Shutdown Facebook Vs Social Abuse

I feel that the debate about shutting down Facebook due to social abuse sounded quite like a big excuse that just rained onto us. Question, how is shutting down Facebook going to curb that? You see, the social media is not a land where random anonymous people just drop by to politically poison you. Each of these accounts have a name. You can trace it if you want.

Remember Kiki or the legendary CDM25? All that is needed is a video of her hitting an old man's car with a steering lock. Instantly, information about her was trashed all over social media including where she lived and ect. Yea, you may call it social abuse at some point when certain people take it too far and begin cursing her. At the same time many big corporations begin poking their head into the situation trying to play the peacemaker. I'd say its a market strategy but oh well, its not what we are discussing today.

So whats the good ending to this story? Through social media, Kiki or the owner of the legendary CDM25 made an effort to apologize to that old man. Of course her apology was not accepted by everyone but the story did die down after that. Okay, I know what you're thinking. You're probably going to say, "This is a form of social abuse which someone needs to be accountable for."

Well, you are right. But again, I feel that social media is a platform to amplify the unheard voices. Lets just say if social media was not present. Do you think Kiki would be given the right punishment for her actions? Judging by that timid old man, would he have lodge a police report for being publicly bullied? I doubt so. But whatever she has done is the past and I do not hope for her to feel guilty forever. She apologized and he has forgiven her. So we should let it go too.

Now at this stage of consideration, we are no longer talking about some small issue like Kiki. Its about politics and endless ideas spreading around everyday. Of course I will not argue how infectious social media can be when we look into social abuse but I honestly feel that at some point, no one would purposely defame someone for the sake of doing it. There could possibly be some misunderstanding which needs clarification.

Which brings me to the last point why shutting down Facebook will not curb the issue. You see, when your child makes a mistake, lets say he / she broke your vase. You do not hide all the vases in your home and never have them in your home anymore. EVER.In that way, you are robbing your child the opportunity to change. You break one vase, but you never taught a lesson that gives room for your child to learn.

Similarly when we are talking about social abuse on Facebook. Yes it is wrong. So go hunt these people down. Get them fined and teach them a lesson if the law claims they are wrong. The problem is not the platform but the people. If you think your child breaking your vase is wrong then tell her it is wrong. Hiding all the vases just sounds very awkward. Likewise, shutting down Facebook is not the best medicine. And who knows? You child might learn how to break porcelain plates and cups if you don't tell her its wrong.

I'd say there will be many disadvantages that we will face if we shut it down. It will very well affect the whole country economically because now, online businesses are so common and Facebook apparently is the center of communication and connection between people. If we leave this platform our chances of succeeding in businesses will be much slower and slimmer.

Anyways, there's always another way to approach many things. Tell me what you think. ;)

Stupidity at its Finest

Update update time~  Due to the terrible haze in KL striking once again without mercy, I feel sickly. Sad to say,  I was down with headache for the whole day. Still I was a good child who went to work and diligently did my job. Okay, I admit. I feel very lazy and terrible these days.  Besides all that, I think I had a good time because he met my parents unofficially and crazy as I thought it would be, my mother farted in front of him. I suppose that is errm... a way of expressing the warmth? HAHAHAHAH okay, now it just sounds weird .  Anyways, I had a good day today I think. :) I'll blog more often okay. I'm feeling lazy these days. I'm sorry.  Love,  Button

How to save up to RM50 a year by just saying "No, thank you"

Did I catch your attention? Yay~ I challenged myself two months ago to reduce the amount of plastic I was using. There are a few reasons why I decided to that. First its because I really like my government now and I appreciate how everyone within the cabinet is doing their best they could to save my country in spite of their limitations. I really want to save my country too but I am aware that I do not have enough money or power to make extreme changes for my country but I wanted to do something to at least help. I know what I am doing is like a tiny drop in the ocean but I remember I voted against the odds with everyone else and we made a huge impact on what we have today. A change. And I am very thankful that I did it. Okay back to plastic. So, my government decided to start a movement by first banning smoking in eateries and then after that another movement to discourage the use of single used plastic by imposing a 20 sen charge on plastics. In a way I am happy with the wa...
